Ideas blossom for Welsh coast designer jeweller

Moving from London to Wales changed Miya's life.

Her designer jewellery workshop is a stone's throw from Swansea's beautiful Singleton Park and the seashore so the natural world is a big influence on her jewellery designs.
"Seeing flowers and plants always puts a smile on my face! I can’t help but be inspired by these natural forms."

Miya uses a host of silversmithing techniques to create unique, eye-catching and wearable jewellery. She works in silver and includes some gold and semi-precious stones.

Her creative ideas are sparked by natural beauty that most of us overlook; shells washed up on the beach and the lovely gingko leaves on the tree in the park that reminds her of her life in Tokyo.

Miya finds it hugely satisfying transforming a dull piece of metal into art.
"I love the process of exploring and experimenting until a piece comes to life and begins to match the vision in my mind."

Miya's work can be seen in shops in South Wales and her Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/miyasjewellery. She also takes on commissioned work. For further information, please get in touch using the contact form.

Adding colours into silver jewellery is what I have been pursuing, setting stones, oxidising some parts to represent a painting-like image, last year I ventured into enamelling. This technique opened up a whole range of varieties to my creation. I am excited to show you my new collections developed from my learning journey!
